On Wednesday, November 20, Ukraine’s government has adopted Action Plan for years 2020-2022 on Integrated Border Management Strategy for the period till 2025 that was developed with participation of Europe without Barriers, according to State Border Guard Service website.
State institutions that are subjects of integrated border management, foreign experts (International group of EU’s high-level experts, with support from European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex and European Union Assistance Mission (EUAM)), and think tank Europe without Barriers were invloved to Action Plan development.
Plan contatines 9 strategic goals including international and inter-agency cooperation between institutions responsible for border crossing and security. Also they include optimization of main elements of border guard service processing: procedures of control, protection of land and sea border, effective countering to transborder crimes. Over 60 specific steps were defined to reach these goals. Implementing these steps will allow to develop external economic relations and international trade, facilitate people and goods movement across the border and make it properly protected.
EWB’s executive director Iryna Sushko became a member of Inter-Agency Working Group on Integrated border management at the beginning of 2019, and was involved to development of IBM Strategy that was approved by government in July 2019.
