COREPER II (Committee of Permanent Representatives of EU Member States) has approved transferring Ukraine to list of third countries whose nationals are exempt from requirement to be in possession of visas when crossing the external border of the EU, reports RFE journalist Rikard Jozwiak in Twitter.
According to EU legislative procedure COREPER decision is the preparatory stage of decision by Council of the EU, which is supposed to be taken on May, 11. Afterwards the document should be signed and published in the official EU Journal with coming into force on the 21st day after publication.
Visa-free regime will grant Ukrainian citizens right to stay on the territory of 30 countries (all EU countries except for United Kingdom and Ireland plus four Schengen countries which are not EU members – Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein) without visa up to 90 days in 180-days period.
