“Europe without barriers” signed two joint appeals of Ukrainian civil society organizations to the European Council and European Parliament concerning visa liberalization.
In the first appeal representatives of the Ukrainian CSOs and think tanks welcome the conclusion of the negotiations between Council of the EU and European Parliament regarding approval of the visa waiver suspension mechanism for the third countries, expressing hope that this will facilitate swift adoption of the decision on granting visa-free regime to Ukraine and Georgia.
“We call on the leaders of the EU member states to confirm at the EU Summit that Ukraine has fulfilled all the requirements for the visa liberalization, and to endorse a political decision on the immediate launch of a trilogue and further visa liberalization for the citizens of our countries“, – appeal to the European Council claims.
In the other appeal civil society representatives call on the European Union to continue to monitor the sustainability of the reforms implemented under the VLAP and remind the significance of immediate granting of the visa waiver for Ukraine.
“We are grateful to our European partners for your consistent and unfaltering support of the Ukrainian reforms and affirm that immediate granting of the visa waiver will strengthen the confidence of the Ukrainian citizens in the European Union and facilitate further effective advocacy and implementation of key systematic changes”, – claims the appeal.
