Delaying visa waiver for Ukraine by the EU is dangerous for both parties of the process, according to interview of EWB’s executive director Iryna Sushko for Ukrlife.tv.
“It is very important to stop in time. Because if we have a pessimistic scenario when visa waiver is postponed to “future”, without deadlines, EU-Ukraine relations will surely be spoiled for many years. It is a very dangerous moment for us as we can get backroll in reforms, when some politicians may say “look how they are treating us so why do we need that eurointegration at all”, but it can also hurt EU and its policy. Clear message we are trying to deliver to our partners in EU is that visa liberalisation was an extremely important process, but we need to leave it and to shift to other programs and projects. Let’s go forward using other tools and thus show progress”, – told she.
