On May 30 in Warsaw an expert meeting on gender aspects of the right to freedom of movement will be held with the participation of EWB executive director Iryna Sushko. Meeting is organised by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
During meeting there will be discussed gender aspects of accessing civil registration documents and IDs, gendered challenges to freedom of movement including accessing documentation for persons already in a vulnerable situation (stateless persons, asylum seekers etc), gender aspects of OSCE participating states’ visa policies.
The event will gather experts and practitioners to discuss whether women in the OSCE region face particular challenges in enjoying their right to freedom of movement due to gendered challenges in obtaining the necessary documents that enable them to enjoy this and other rights. The aim of the workshop is to identify the issues that may exist on the ground, in order to inform activities that ODIHR can develop to support participating states in including gender sensitive policies to facilitate freedom of movement.
